Antimony trioxide price is reportedly increasing by RMB1,000/t (USD150/t) compared to that in late last week, however, part of the producers revealed that they are cautious of raising prices due to thin trading activities in spot market
A Hunan-based antimony trioxide producer, whose output of 220tpm has decreased to around 100tpm owing to low availability of antimony ingot, claimed that he was shopping around for antimony ingot in Hunan in the past week, but many producers told him no spot materials . The source claimed that he quoted around RMB73,000-74,000/t (USD10,994-11,144/t) ex works for antimony trioxide 99 . 8%min, RMB1,000/t (USD150/t) higher than that in late last week .
The source sold around 10t of antimony trioxide 99 . 8%min at RMB72,000/t (USD10,843/t) ex works late last week to his long-term customers, and added that most of his customers are glasses fiber and modified plastics manufacturers, in those areas antimony trioxide are used to fire retardant and can not be replaced by other substitutes, because the substitutes will change the conformance of glasses fiber and modified plastics . "Therefore, we receive orders normally, but the trading volume reduces," said the source .
Another Hunan-based antimony trioxide producer, with an output of around 100tpm, reported that they lifted their offer to RMB74,000/t (USD11,144/t) from RMB72,000-72,500/t (USD10,843-10,919/t) ex works in last week . "Tight supply of antimony ingot becomes much severer at present after antimony ingot producers in Guangxi gradually stopped production for energy saving and emission reduction plan," said the source .
The source is short of antimony ingot, and holds 20t of antimony trioxide 99 . 5%min and 60t of antimony trioxide 99 . 8%min in stock at present .
