European FeV market stable but not encouraging

BEIJING (Asian Metal) 22 May 07 – Whilst inter-trade prices go for around USD38-38.25/kg V d.p in warehouse Rotterdam, ferrovanadium producers are trying to get as much profit as they can by offering the material directly to end-users at around USD38.50/kg V d.
A trader who reportedly sold a batch of vanadium pentoxide to an end-user for USD7.90/lb in warehouse Rotterdam for prompt delivery heard from a privy to a concluded deal that ferrovanadium 80%min exchanged hands for USD38.50/kg V d.p.

The source was of the view vanadium pentoxide price would not change significantly in the coming days because demand from consumers is generally weak now, but not to the extent of the material dropping further.

A dealer who only received few enquiries but no concluded deals confirmed the low prices of the material in recent days. “There are enquiries but one is surprised I have been missing almost all,” the dealer lamented, adding “it is an indication there could be much more cheap material available or consumer demand is not so strong.”

Asian Metal also learnt that those who sent enquiries now give price indication at below USD39/kg V d.d.p. (duty paid delivered), which eventually, is leaving no margins to dealers.
